Description
Binitio Biomedical’s radiocontrast agent for non-destructive and longitudinal MicroCT imaging. It is fully biodegradable and contains 160 mg of iodine per milliliter (mgI/mL) as an X-ray attenuating agent. Once injected intravenously, eXIA™160 shows blood residence time (clearance half-time of > 30 min) and then gets taken up by metabolically active organs such as the liver, spleen, myocardium and brown adipose tissue (BAT). eXIA™160 can prove useful for the non-invasive in vivo detection of liver and spleen abnormalities, myocardial infarction and cardiomyopathy, and to identify and quantify active brown adipose tissue (BAT). As such, it can be used to quantitatively determine the metabolic integrity of organs and tissues similarly to 2-Deoxy-2-[F]fluoro-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET), but without the need for a radioactive tracer.
