Description
Binitio Biomedical’s radiocontrast agent with prolonged vascular residence time for non-destructive and longitudinal imaging. It is fully biodegradable and contains 160 mg of iodine per milliliter (160 mgI/mL) as an X-ray attenuating agent. Following intravenous administration, eXIA™160XL remains in the vasculature over extended period of time (clearance half-life of > 60 min) and then gets taken up by metabolically active organs such as the liver, spleen, myocardium and brown adipose tissue (BAT). eXIA™160XL can prove useful for the non-invasive in vivo detection of liver and spleen abnormalities, myocardial infarction and cardiomyopathy, and to identify and quantify active brown adipose tissue (BAT). As such, it can be used to quantitatively determine the metabolic integrity of organs and tissues similarly to 2-Deoxy-2-[F]fluoro-D-glucose (FDG) positron emission tomography (PET), but without the need for a radioactive tracer.
