Description
Product Overview
FeraSpin™ R is a superparamagnetic iron oxide (SPIO) nanoparticle MRI agent derived from clinically validated Ferucarbotran formulations. It is rapidly taken up by liver and spleen macrophages, providing strong T2/T2* contrast and reliable visualization of hepatic structures.

Research Applications
FeraSpin™ R is designed for high-resolution imaging of liver and spleen morphology, detection of liver tumors, and evaluation of macrophage physiology. Its rapid uptake by Kupffer cells supports longitudinal studies and detailed anatomical assessments in small animal models.
Imaging Characteristics
The nanoparticles have a mean hydrodynamic diameter of 60 nm with a size distribution of 10-90 nm. Relaxivity at 37 °C and 1.41 T in water is r1 = 10 L mmol-1 s-1 and r2 = 185 L mmol-1 s-1. On clinical devices at 1.5 T in plasma, r1 = 7 L mmol-1 s-1 and r2 = 95 L mmol-1 s-1. These properties enable consistent, high-quality MR contrast for liver and spleen imaging.

Advantages for Preclinical MRI Studies
FeraSpin™ R offers robust T2/T2* contrast, rapid macrophage uptake, and high reproducibility, allowing accurate delineation of liver tumors and healthy tissue. Its SPIO-based formulation ensures compatibility with longitudinal study designs and supports comprehensive preclinical imaging workflows.
Preclinical Imaging Validation
Axial T2-weighted MR images demonstrate FeraSpin™ R accumulation in liver Kupffer cells, generating hypointense healthy tissue and clear delineation of tumors. This enables precise quantitative and qualitative assessments of hepatic structures.
