2001 Solid State Freezer

Description

The Bright Instruments 2001 Solid State Freezer provides precise temperature control for specimens requiring cooling below room temperature. Using a Peltier device cooling stage, it enables specimen temperatures to be reduced from ambient down to minus 25 degrees Celsius or lower, depending on laboratory conditions.

Designed for integration with microtomes, the Solid State Freezer ensures consistent, controlled specimen preparation for accurate and reproducible sectioning.

Applications

The 2001 Solid State Freezer is suitable for:

  • Cooling tissue specimens for histology and pathology studies
  • Supporting sectioning of temperature-sensitive biological and material samples
  • Integration with rotary and sledge microtomes for precise sectioning workflows
  • Use in research laboratories where controlled freezing improves section quality

It is primarily designed for the Bright 8000 Sledge Microtome but is compatible with a range of rotary and sledge microtomes.

Key Features

Specimen Cooling Stage

  • Cooling stage available in 40 mm x 40 mm configuration
  • Fits directly onto the microtome in place of a standard specimen holder
  • Equipped with water inlet, water outlet, and electrical connection to the control unit
  • Rapid removal of specimens after sectioning

Control Unit

  • Maintains precise temperature regulation of the specimen stage
  • Built-in safety feature detects low water flow to prevent overheating
  • Supports consistent specimen freezing for reproducible sectioning

Optional Recirculating Chiller

  • Provides efficient heat dissipation from the Peltier head
  • More cost-effective and environmentally sustainable than using tap water
  • Reduces water consumption while maintaining stable cooling performance

Benefits

  • Enhances sectioning precision by maintaining specimens at controlled low temperatures
  • Easy integration with microtome workflows for routine and specialized applications
  • Supports reproducible and high-quality sections for histology, pathology, and material analysis
